Hot Husbands Finalist: Joe Daues
Every weekday through Friday, May 30 we'll be unveiling our Hot Husbands finalists (in no particular order) one-by-one here at the 417 Blog. The purpose? To let you gradually get acquainted with the men you'll be voting on beginning June 1 in our first-ever Hot Husbands contest. You'll vote the 20 finalists down to our 10 Hot Husband winners, to be presented in the September issue of 417 Magazine. So of course we want you to have the information you need to make the best choices—though you can't go wrong with any of these guys.
Joe Daues, 46
Town: Springfield
Occupation: News anchor on KSPR
Family: Joe and his wife, Christine, have a 2-year-old son named Joey and a baby daughter named Jude.
Why he’s great: Joe’s is a familiar face, both on KSPR and at charity events around the region. He has volunteered his time as emcee, host or judge for events for organizations such as the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, MDA telethon, The Kitchen and more. He was even honored by the Sertoma Club as Springfieldian of the Year. “My parents were involved in Kiwanis, Sinawik and some other service organizations when I was young,” he says. “It was a good example for me. I learned those same values of service to others through the Boy Scouts (yes Eagle Scout!) and Key Club in my teenage years.”
Hobbies: “Since we had kids, I have had only one hobby: them! And I would tell you this in person regardless of any application: It is THE BEST hobby I have ever taken up.” When he’s not focused on being a dad, Joe also likes to hunt, play any sport he can get involved in and travel all over the United States and the world.
Why he’s a Hot Husband: “I have a passion for my wife and my kids. They are my life, not my job or my hobbies or my friends. That’s why I would rather spend time with them than do anything else. Christine and I have only been together about seven years, but I still love to dance with her whenever we get the chance. We’re out of control swing dancers. (I mean literally out of control!) She complements me in a way usually reserved for twins, and no matter how tired I am (and that’s REALLY tired lately) I can’t wait to see her every morning!”
