Hot Husbands Finalist: Joel Doepker
Every weekday through Friday, May 30 we'll be unveiling our Hot Husbands finalists (in no particular order) one-by-one here at the 417 Blog. The purpose? To let you gradually get acquainted with the men you'll be voting on beginning June 1 in our first-ever Hot Husbands contest. You'll vote the 20 finalists down to our 10 Hot Husband winners, to be presented in the September issue of 417 Magazine. So of course we want you to have the information you need to make the best choices—though you can't go wrong with any of these guys.
Joel Doepker, 40
Town: Springfield
Occupation: Director of Public Relations and Communications, Ozarks Technical Community College
Family: Joe’s wife is Lynda, and his 4-year-old daughter is Samantha.
Why he’s great: Joel is the college representative for the United Way of the Ozarks Campaign Cabinet, through which he works with local colleges and universities to set up internal fundraising efforts. For the Autism Speaks organization, he provides public relations support. “My nephew has Asperger Syndrome, which is a high-functioning form of autism,” he says. “He is an intelligent boy who benefits from Autism Speaks, which provides him the guidance and opportunity to enhance those segments of his personality that need assistance.” Oh, and according to his daughter, Lava Girl, Joel’s secret identity is Plastic Man.
Hobbies:
Joel like to get his workouts playing basketball, which he says is less mundane than the treadmill. He also plays golf and poker with his friends. To relax, he reads.
Why he’s a Hot Husband: Joel went to wife for help with this question, and she said: “He is my best friend and can always make me laugh. He continues to amaze me. Just when I think I know everything about him, he shows me a new facet. I love that.”
