Hot Husbands Finalist: Robert Steele
Every weekday through Friday, May 30 we'll be unveiling our Hot Husbands finalists (in no particular order) one-by-one here at the 417 Blog. The purpose? To let you gradually get acquainted with the men you'll be voting on beginning June 1 in our first-ever Hot Husbands contest. You'll vote the 20 finalists down to our 10 Hot Husband winners, to be presented in the September issue of 417 Magazine. So of course we want you to have the information you need to make the best choices—though you can't go wrong with any of these guys.
Robert Steele, 41
Town: Springfield
Occupation: Pediatrician
Family: Robert’s family is made up of his wife, Reneé, and their children: 16-year-old Ryan, 14-year-old Mitchell, 5-year-old Dora Jean and 18-month-old twins Austin and Christopher.
Why he’s great: Robert’s involvement in the community has been focused on children, and he has been a provider and collaborating physician for the Child Advocacy Center, a member of the board of the Parenting Life Skills Center, medical consultant for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Chairman of the State Advisory Board for Childhood Immunizations. “As a pediatrician, I have seen the horrible consequences of child abuse,” he says. “My involvement with the Parenting Life Skills Center and Child Advocacy Center has been a way to make an impact both in the prevention and investigation of child abuse. My passion in immunization issues is also derived from the desire to prevent disease. Immunization issues not only impact the individual child but the community as a whole.”
Hobbies: Bicycling, playing piano and playing trumpet. He says his favorite two hobbies are ballroom dancing and fixing up and driving his 1979 International Harvester Scout II. “My wife, Reneé, and I began taking ballroom dancing lessons three years ago,” he says. “I love it. There is nothing hotter than my wife doing the tango.”
Why he’s a Hot Husband: My wife is the most beautiful woman I know, and she is an incredible mother. Why am I Hot Husband? Because I know she could have had anyone she wanted, and she chose me.

Dr. Steele is my children's pediatrician. He is so nice and funny, my children just love going to his office, even if it is shot day. It really feels like he cares about each and every child he meets. The picture doesn't do him justice, he is a lot cuter in person.
