Mid-November: A time for class

Mid-November: A time for class

The forecast may call for a few showers this weekend, but there are plenty of events to keep you busy. So forget raking the leaves for a day and get out and about.

Greater Tuna is returning to Springfield Little Theatre, but Mark Gideon and Beth Domann’s comedic tale of Tuna, Texas (the third smallest town in the state) is only back for eight performances. They start Friday, so get your tickets now at springfieldlittletheatre.org.

Do your part for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Ozarks by attending Beerfest this weekend. The Patron’s Party is Friday night at Springfield Brew Co. and the main event is Saturday afternoon at the Shrine Mosque. Each event is $30, or you can go VIP on Saturday for $55. Purchase tickets here.

The Springfield Symphony is getting romantic on Saturday night with their performance of Tripping the Light Fantasia. On the program is music from the Romantic era, “Symphonie Fantastique” by Berlioz, and a solo by Yeol Eum Son, the Korean Silver Medalist from the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Buy your tickets at springfieldmosymphony.org.

The theatre, the symphony and a charity event? Aren’t you cultural.
