Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 – SPRINGFIELD, MO. – Join Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO)
in celebrating the fall harvest this Saturday, Oct. 6, for the Harvest Festival at the market,
located right off Republic Road and Highway 60 on Nature Center Drive.
“We will have more than 65 vendors this coming Saturday and it’s the perfect
time to come and visit market because booths are busting with fall produce including
pumpkins, gourds, apples, winter squash and lots of cool weather crops, “ said
Market Manager Lane McConnell. “Visitors will also find fall wreaths, mums and
other locally made products to top off their shopping day.”
Vendor booths will be decorated from top to bottom in the fall spirit, as
vendors compete in the “Best Decked Booth Contest” and the winners
will be announced at noon at the musician area.
Bring the kids to the Springfield Urban Agriculture Coalition (SUAC) Booth for
pumpkin painting and beautiful mums. All proceeds from the mums go to help
support SUAC, a non-profit organization which promotes healthy lifestyles and environments
through hands on education about production and consumption of locally-produced,
natural, healthy foods.
"SUAC is exited to partner with FMO to provide education to our youth on the
importance of healthy eating and caring for the environment," said SUAC Founder
Melissa Millsap. "SUAC works to reconnect people with their food and those who grow
it through our school and community programs. Our organization will be selling mums
this weekend to help provide additional resources for SUAC to continue growing within the community."
Also while at market stop in for hot apple cider from The Coffee Ethic, sample foods
from market vendors, enjoy the festive music from local musicians and get your family’s
