Who’s Coming to (Rehearsal) Dinner?
The Our Wedding Story contest was created to give all 417-land grooms- and brides-to-be a chance to have their wedding featured in 417 Bride. Nearly 30 couples decided to take a chance, and a team of judges narrowed the list to five finalists. Next we let you all vote for your favorite, and Bethany LaCavera and Brandon Dhondt won the contest.
Our wedding rehearsal was an interesting experience. Normal or abnormal, who’s to say? But I can definitely say it was memorable.
There we were, Bethany and I and the more than 20 others in our wedding party, with less than 24 hours from the big event. I always thought that wedding rehearsals had some guests that know what to do (other than the bride and groom). This wasn’t the case.
Our wedding party and their families (which was nearly 40 people, enough to constitute a small wedding) were gathered, each and every one of them clueless about the following day’s big event. Bethany and I had nearly forty people looking to us to find out what to do. How’s that for stress? But after a twenty-minute discussion with the pastor, we came up with a final order of events.
Once we had a plan, things started rolling smoothly. The groomsmen and bridesmaids started flowing down the aisle as if they were pros.
And to satisfy the dinner portion of the rehearsal dinner, we knew we had a lot of mouths to feed. The issue was easily satisfied with a bunch of pizzas. Yum!
All in all it was an enjoyable experience. It was a little more stressful than expected, but nothing we couldn't handle. It was nice for everyone in the wedding party to get together and meet the others that they didn’t know.
