In conjunction with Black History Month, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra spotlights the contributions of one of our nation’s great African- American composers William Grant Still. Sit back and listen as blues, jazz and spirituals combine with classical music. The concert also features Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and the return of Missouri State University music professor Richard Todd Payne, who sings spirituals and delivers a compelling recitation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s I have a Dream speech.

Pre-concert lecture at 6:40 p.m., pre-concert music at 7 p.m., and concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
