About This Event

Springfield residents are gathering to support an event to raise funds for an Eagle Scout project that will revitalize the baseball field and sports program in north Springfield’s Grant Beach Neighborhood. The event, hosted by Jacob Brazeal of Boy Scouts of America Troop 320, will include the Springfield Cardinal’s mascot, Louie, an auction, 50/50 raffle, food, games, music, a Backwards Dizzy Baseball game and lots more fun for individuals and families.
Jacob believes every child should have the opportunity to participate in a well-rounded sports league no matter their financial situation. Grant Beach Neighborhood is located in Zone One, a low income neighborhood in North Springfield. This league offers children the opportunity to gain needed teamwork skills through their sports programs at a minimal cost of $10 per season. While the program is doing well, the field and park grounds are in real need of repair and upgrade. Jacob feels that all children should be proud of the facilities they are able to utilize.
The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, July 7th, 10:00 a.m., at Grant Beach Park, 1300 N. Grant St. in Springfield.
