Pioneer Heritage Festival of the Ozarks

About This Event
This will be the third year for the Festival which is held on the third weekend of October at the New Haven Event Park. The Park is located 15 miles east of Ava on state highway 14
On Saturday, October 5th, there will be square dancing with music by David Scrivner (fiddle) and Alvie Dooms (guitar). Featured musicians will perform including Possum Trot Band, SouthWynns Band and an appearance by Jeremy Myers. During this time contest winners will be announced for the corn bread cook-off, embroidery contest, the fruit pie bake-off and the period costume contest. Later in the day the Youth Strings Talent Show will take place and the Ozark Thunder Cloggers will perform. Through-out the day there will be impromptu jam sessions, so bring your instruments.
Sunday. October 6th will begin with gospel singing, an open jam session and performances by Stringed Union Bluegrass and the Finley River Boys. The Celtic Irish Dance Group will be on hand to perform their special dance numbers.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be games for the kids including 3 legged races, water carrying races, sack races and an egg toss (all ages).
A Pioneer Village will be set up to showcase flint knappers and crafts that our forefathers used to live by.
