How long have you been working here?
A little longer than a year.
Describe what you do at work day-to-day.
My position is Creative Coordinator. I am part of a design team that creates ads for a wide variety of clients who advertise in 417 Magazine, 417 Home and 417 Bride. I help with the photography, printing and production for the magazines. I love the creative aspect of this position, allowing ideas and messages to be communicated visually through graphic design. Best job ever! I also get to participate in many social events that 417 is a part of.
What’s something interesting you worked on this month?
Something particularly unusual that I’ve done recently is attend a photo shoot with pin-up girls and Italian food. Very funny combo. You’ll have to see the Nonna’s Italian Café ads for details.
What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever had to do for this job?
There are plenty of great things about this job. 417 Magazine sponsors and participates in a variety of community events. Recently, I attended Taste of the Ozarks benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. I enjoyed all the local cuisine, silent auctions, speakers and testimonials. Very memorable night.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever had to do for this job?
Bartending for the Top Doctors celebration. I don’t know the first thing about mixing drinks, so I was definitely improvising. I caught on a little toward the end, and a few people attending actually returned to order more.
What’s your favorite thing to do in 417-land?
I love how close Springfield is to so many lakes and rivers. I love anything on the water. Boating, swimming, skiing and canoeing rank pretty high for me.
What celebrity would you most like to have coffee and conversation with?
Probably Johnny Depp. He’s definitely handsome to look at. He has lived a pretty interesting life playing so many different roles.
What do you do in your free time?
Lately, I have been hanging out a lot with my sweet nephew, Hudson. He turns 2 this month, and it is always fun to try new things with him. I’m looking forward to taking him to Spooktacular at Dickerson Park Zoo and all the Halloween activities in Springfield. I also like to spend time outdoors. Gardening is a big one, but I usually end up killing most of the plants.
What’s your dream vacation, and what five people would you take with you?
Anywhere with sand and water. I love relaxing at the beach. I would probably take my family. It has been a long time since we traveled together, so it would be nice to have everyone in the same place.
What would you do if you won $1 million?
Go crazy! Splurge on everything. I would go shopping for a new house and toys for the lake, and I would probably have to share some, too.
