About This Event
It was almost 200 years ago that young New Yorker Henry Rowe Schoolcraft and a companion named Levi Pettibone launched their memorable journey into the wild and mostly unsettled region that we today call the Ozarks. Brooks Blevins, Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies at Missouri State University, will discuss the region – the Old Ozarks – as Schoolcraft and other early travelers found it two centuries ago. Copies of Blevins' new book, "A History of the Ozarks, Volume 1: The Old Ozarks," will be available for purchase and signing. Presented by The Library, Missouri State University Libraries, Missouri State University Ozarks Studies Institute and the State Historical Society of Missouri. Call 882-0714 for more information.
