In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Museum is kicking off a special collection highlight tour titled "Women Shaping the Museum." This tour, organized by Museum Assistant Shauna LeAnn Smith, will guide you through a comprehensive look at the way women have shaped your Museum throughout history.
This tour is full of role models for today’s creatives and art patrons alike including, the work of Alison Saar, Julie Blackmon, Susi Steinitz Ettinger, Rose O’Neill, Ida Kohlmeyer, Angelic Kauffman, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith, Anne Lindberg, The Art Study Club (and subsequently the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates SMMA), Deborah Weisel, and more.
The "Women Shaping the Museum" tour will continue to be offered past the month of March. You can request your own private guided group tour, free of charge, by contacting Museum Assistant Shauna Smith at (417) 874-2866 or slsmith@springfieldmo.gov. There is no minimum group number required to schedule a guided tour. Weekday and weekend custom tours are available.
