To celebrate 10 years of Big Cypress Lodge, here are 10 unexpected things you can do inside the Memphis Pyramid.

1. Experience Rustic Luxury Lodging at Big Cypress Lodge in Memphis
Big Cypress Lodge isn’t your average hotel stay. Tucked inside the massive Bass Pro Shops in Memphis, it’s got serious outdoorsy charm—think treehouse-style rooms, private cabins and rustic-luxe suites with cozy fireplaces. Some rooms even have screened-in porches or views of the Mississippi River. It’s part lodge, part adventure.
Tip: Bring your dog along! Big Cypress Lodge and Bass Pro Shops are pet-friendly facilities. Fido will enjoy complimentary treats, a custom door tag and waste bags upon arrival.

2. Enjoy Underwater-Themed Bowling and Eats at the Fishbowl
Take a dive into the Fishbowl, where you can bowl under the sea. With 13 lanes and a full menu of drinks and bites, it’s a playful spot for family-friendly fun or a date night.
Tip: Strike it big in a sea of fun—head to the underwater-themed bowling alley, where each lane has a quirky ball return shaped like sharks, octopuses or alligators.

3. Take the Sky High Ride for Stunning Views of Memphis and the Mississippi
Hop on the Sky High Ride—the country’s tallest free-standing elevator—at Big Cypress Lodge and ride 28 stories up to see the Memphis skyline and the Mighty Mississippi. On the way up, you’ll get the backstory on how this massive pyramid became home to Bass Pro Shops.
Tip: The Sky High Ride stands as tall as the Statue of Liberty. Guests of Big Cypress Lodge can use the express line to expedite your journey to the peak of the Pyramid.

4. Catch Daily Fish Feedings at the Bass Pro Shops Aquarium
Right in the middle of Bass Pro Shops, you’ll find an aquarium filled with native Tennessee fish. Swing by for one of the daily feedings and watch the fish go wild.
Did you know?: The sprawling Cypress Swamp boasts over 600,000 gallons of water and 36 varieties of fish, including the majestic lake sturgeon.
5. Fish for Giant Catfish on the Mississippi with a Local Guide
Head out with a local guide and try your luck catching some of the Mississippi’s biggest fish, including blue catfish, flatheads and channel cats, all with the pyramid in view.
Did you know?: Thanks to a buddy fishing trip and one big catfish, Big Cypress Lodge and Bass Pro Shops can call the iconic Memphis Pyramid home. You can fish in the shadows of the pyramid, too!

6. Stroll Through Tom Lee Park Just Outside the Pyramid
Start your ride or walk at the pyramid and follow the River Line to Tom Lee Park. The newly redesigned space features an all-ages playground, bold public art and some of the best views of the Mississippi River, perfect for a laid-back afternoon outdoors.
Did you know?: In 1925, Tom Lee rescued 32 passengers from a capsized boat in the chilly and fast current of the Mississippi River. With just a small wooden skiff and his inability to swim, Lee was quickly recognized as a hero. The park was dedicated as Tom Lee Park in 1954. The park underwent a $61 million renovation beginning in 2020 and reopened to the public on Labor Day in 2023.
7. Watch Anglers Compete at the Mississippi River Monsters Tournament
Every year, anglers from all over the country roll into town to compete for the title of Mississippi River Monsters Champion. The excitement kicks off in the South parking lot with the weigh-in, where spectators can check out some massive catfish pulled straight from the Mississippi.
Did you know?: The Mississippi River Monster Tournament, created in partnership with legendary angler Bill Dance, is also celebrating 10 years. This was the original catfish showdown on the river that started it all.

8. Take in the Best Views of Memphis from The Lookout at the Pyramid
After riding the Sky High Ride to the top of the Pyramid, take in the views of Memphis over a specialty drink and a bite to eat at The Lookout. It’s one of the best seats in the city.
Tip: Sunset views from the lookout are unbelievable. Make a reservation to enjoy panoramic views of downtown Memphis and Arkansas’ natural beauty.

9. Explore the History of the Memphis Pyramid at Big Cypress Lodge
Take a walk through the History of the Pyramid exhibit on the third floor of Big Cypress Lodge to see how this iconic Memphis landmark has transformed over the years. Originally built in 1991, the Pyramid once hosted everything from Memphis Grizzlies games to concerts by legends like Mary J. Blige and The Rolling Stones—even a Mike Tyson fight. Today, you can check out memorabilia from those big moments and learn how a fishing trip (and one giant catfish) helped turn the space into the home of Bass Pro Shops and Big Cypress Lodge.
Did you know?: Since opening the Pyramid 10 years ago, Big Cypress Lodge has become a place guests return to year after year—and it’s not just for the experience and views. Many of the original associates are still here, including fan favorite shuttle driver Jeffrey, whose warmth and hospitality have become a guest tradition of its own.
10. Celebrate 10 Years with 10% Off and Monthly Giveaways at Big Cypress Lodge
In honor of 10 years in Memphis, Big Cypress Lodge is offering an extra 10% off its best rates for Sunday through Thursday stays in 2025. It’s a little “thank you” for a decade of adventure—just note that the deal doesn’t apply to existing reservations. They are also giving away a one-night stay once a month throughout the year. Winners receive one night in an interior king or double queen room with a private balcony, including views of Bass Pro Shops and the Cypress Swamp.
