When you think “super-fun day date” does the small town of Walnut Shade come to mind? Maybe not yet, but it should, because Walnut Shade is home to two nearby scenic day date destinations.

Start out at Copper Run Distillery (1901 Day Road, Walnut Shade, 417-587-3336), where they make moonshine, rum and whiskey in a secluded, woodsy setting. It’s where you’ll sip and sample on a distillery tour, then listen to live music. Bonus if you go in the fall when the distillery might have some of their seasonal apple pie moonshine on hand to sample or buy.

From there, head to Bear Creek Wine Company (1320 Keithley Road, Walnut Shade, 417-443-0036). You’ll want to be there as day turns to early evening because Bear Creek’s shady outdoor patio features twinkle lights and access to a sweeping view that will take your breath away. In addition to Bear Creek’s wine and craft beers, you can order charcuterie plates, pizzas and made-from-scratch soft pretzels served with pimento cheese.

Determine who’ll be the DD before you go, so you can enjoy your tasty trek through the Ozarks hills.
