Longtime Springfield residents know that chesterfield village construction work began in the 1990s. But the stunning brickwork with painted details and layout that prioritizes pedestrian foot traffic could fool a tourist into believing it dates back much further. This business district may be quaint, but it packs a punch in the food department.
Garbo’s Pizzeria
2101 W. Chesterfield St.
This neighborhood pizza joint serves St. Louis-style pizza, down to the Provel cheese and thin crust. Leave room for dessert because the cakes that second-generation owner Laine Scholz bakes are incomparable.
Must-Try Pairing: A house salad with the Garden Delight Pizza
Bao Bao Chinese Bistro
2101 W. Chesterfield St., Unit A104
When your kids are craving Springfield-style Chinese, but you’re in the mood for something more authentic, Bao Bao is the answer. Chicken, pork and beef are on the lineup, but so are duck, clam and squid.
Must-Try Dish: Yu-Shiang beef
Omo Japanese Soul Food
2215 W. Chesterfield St.
Omo Japanese Soul Food recently relocated from its original post in Chesterfield Village to just a few doors down. They’re still serving their famous ramen and udon bowls, but now in a whimsical atmosphere with paper lanterns and cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling. Sidenote: The robot cat waiter that serves drinks always elicits a smile from diners of all ages.
Must-Try Dish: The Omo Yaki Noodle with Shrimp
Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes
2160 W. Chesterfield St.
How good are Black Sheep’s Wagyu and Angus beef burgers? So good that Springfield sustains four locations, including one in Chesterfield Village. And here’s a little tip: The salt and vinegar fries aren’t officially listed on the menu anymore, but they can still whip them out upon special request.
Must-Try Pairing: The Ugly Cheeseburger with the Elvis shake
Schultz Pizza & Pub
2210 W. Chesterfield St.
Formerly Schultz & Dooley’s, this business just got a glow up with a new name, new pizza oven and new menu items. But don’t worry—the majority of their beloved classic pub grub on the lineup remains.
Must-Try Dish: The Marg Simpson
