What’s your ideal way to spend a sunny day in the Ozarks? Ours starts with lunch at Shady Taco & Grill in Indian Point. Don’t let the name fool you, they have a little bit of everything here, from wings and salads to tacos and burgers—which we’ve tried and can confirm are delicious. Plus, they offer a full brunch menu every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Once you’re fueled up, make your way a couple of miles down the road to Silver Dollar City. The amusement park we all know and love debuted a new plaza expansion this year, adding permanent shade structures, seating, a new entertainment stage and food booths. Plus, if you haven’t ridden the new and improved Fire in the Hole rollercoaster, now is your chance.

Also new this year, the Silver Dollar Circus is a must-see for families. World-class acrobats perform high-flying feats on teeterboards, spin on Cyr wheels and chair stack live from the Opera House stage.

After a long day at the amusement park and with the summer sun blazing, few things feel better than cooling off at the lake. For a late-afternoon to evening adventure, check out GloRides Paddle Tours & Rentals, which offers a unique way to experience the lake through clear kayaks and paddleboards. Owner Stephanie McGinness discovered GloRides while living in Pensacola, Florida.

The kayaks are outfitted with color-changing LED light systems, creating a glow for after-dark excursions. For daytime adventures, rentals are also available with a Bimini top, offering shade for those who prefer to paddle out of the sun. No prior paddling experience is necessary to enjoy a GloRide adventure—they cater to all skill levels. “Many first-timers are immediately captivated by the clear kayaks or paddleboards, especially once the LED lights illuminate the underwater world after dusk,” McGinness says.

GloRides Paddle Tours & Rentals does not have set hours—they cater to the needs of their guests—but typical GloRide rentals are from around 8 p.m. to midnight.
