I don’t always get dessert when I dine out, but when I do, I want it to feel like a true treat and a major indulgence. The Torta de Askinosie at Cafe Cusco (234 E. Commercial Street, Springfield, 417-868-8088) never disappoints. The fudgy flourless cake is soaked in coffee, which makes the chocolate taste even richer. On top are cacao nibs from Askinosie Chocolate (a fellow C. Street business) and whipped cream, cinnamon and caramel for garnish. Every component feels sinful and completely worth it. Plus, it’s gluten-free—a major bonus for anyone who normally has to forgo cake-like treats due to gluten sensitivity.
