1. Once we learned we could get $1 tacos every Monday at Tacos El Gordo (1510 N. National Ave., Springfield), it was all over for us. Those tacos are super-tasty, and at just a buck each it’s an easy lunch decision on Mondays.

2. Don’t judge us for this: We had the jicama tacos with coconut-breaded shrimp from Mundos Latin Kitchen (5493 N. 17th St., Ozark) not once but twice in a single week. They were so delish with their toppings of chipotle sauce and pico de gallo that we just had to go back for more.

3. When we want something that feels both indulgent and brightly flavored, we order the garlic chili shrimp pappardelle from Farmers Gastropub (2620 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield). It is made with arugula, peas, green onions and garlic-chili butter sauce.

4. One staffer has been regularly dreaming about the mushroom bisque from Cherry Picker Package x Fare (601 S. Pickwick Ave., Springfield). This dreamy, comforting dish is packed with the flavors of sage and both cremini and portobello mushrooms.

5. We never knew we could fall in love with a meatball, and yet here we are. The Balboa Meatballs from Piccolo (107 W. Aldersgate Dr., Nixa) are huge, juicy, stuffed with melty mozzarella cheese and served over marinara with a sprinkling of goat cheese on top.

6. A salad that is truly satisfying (and one that we crave over and over again) is the Forest Panzanella from The Garrison (at Finley Farms, 802 Finley Farms Lane, Ozark). It’s made with tender mushrooms, sesame sourdough bread, arugula and a delicious umami aioli.

7. Saturdays are our favorite days at European Café (207 Park Central East, Springfield). That’s when you can get your hands on the freshly baked cardamom buns, a soft and not-too-sweet braided roll with the heavenly scent and flavor of warm spices.
