Let’s play a game. It’s called Choose Your Weekend Mood. It’s kind of like Choose Your Own Adventure books, but hyper-focused on what’s happening in the Ozarks in the days ahead. Here are your options:

Mood 1: Going Full Moth

This is when you get as cozy as possible, wrapped up in warmth like a moth inside its cocoon. The high on Sunday is going to be 38 degrees. That’s downright cold, and although you might feel the urge to stay indoors, we recommend you go find your moment of coziness out in the Ozarks.

Mood 2: Giving Main Character Energy

This one is about having a big night out on the town—and feeling no shame about it. Find details below about a bar and brewery tour where a designated driver is part of the package. Or, if you want to stick to one location, you can read about the popular holiday pop-up bar that kicks off this weekend.

Mood 3: Nurturing Your Inner Bear Grylls

While there are still a couple warm days in the mix before the chill of Sunday and Monday roll in, any seasoned adventurer knows that there’s no such thing as bad weather—only bad clothes. If you bundle up, pop on some boots and slip into some gloves, you can still go out and explore the Ozarks. You’ll have no trouble finding a walking path or hiking trail to trek down. But if you need someone to lead the way, there’s an event below that includes a professional guide.

So, who are you going to be this weekend? I’m probably some combination of a bit of Mood 3, followed by plenty of time snuggled up inside Mood 1.

Oh, one more thing: We’ve been so impressed to see how local organizations have stepped up to help during the SNAP funding pause. Read about some of these local nonprofits—you can contribute to them if you want to help as well. And check out our list of local restaurants offering free or discounted meals during this time. Supporting them while you’re out and about this weekend can help them support others. And we love that.

November 8: The Tipsy Tour

Four Local Stops

Hop aboard a bus to make stop at four local hotspots: Wire Road Brewing, 4 By 4 Brewing (Fremont Hills), Miss Boston’s Cocktail Lounge and Bob & Ike’s Neighborhood Bar. Each stop includes one drink and some tasty food—plus live music along the way!

November 7: First Friday Art Walk

Downtown Springfield

The first Friday of every month, local art takes center stage in Springfield. See art by local and regional artists as you stroll through Downtown Springfield galleries and shops, like Missouri State University’s Brick City Gallery, the Creamery Arts Center, Fresh Gallery, Obelisk Home and lots more.

November 7–8: Missouri State University Ice Hockey

Brightspeed Ice Park

This month, you can see the Missouri State Bears men’s Division I ice hockey team play the Colorado State University Rams at Brightspeed Ice Park.

November 7: Sam Bush

Gillioz Theatre

Head to The Gillioz to hear the music of Sam Bush, known as the originator of progressive bluegrass music. He’s been in the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame since 2020 as a member of New Grass Revival, and since 2023 as a solo musical artist.

November 8: Hawksbill Crag + BOC Zipline Tour

Farmers Park

This professionally guided excursion includes a two-hour zipline tour followed by a hike to the gorgeous views of Hawskbill Crag (a.k.a. Whitaker Point). The 2.7-mile out-and-back trail takes you to a rocky crag that juts out over a sweeping wooded valley. Trailside lunch is included. Tours meet up at Farmers Park in Springfield, and 37 North Expeditions guides drive you to the Arkansas destinations.

November 8: Billy the Kid

Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts

This Wild West–inspired Springfield Symphony Orchestra concert features Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger Prelude,” Viet Cuong’s “Re(new)al” featuring the Sandbox Percussion quartet, Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” and Copland’s “Billy the Kid.”

November 11: Friendsgiving Trivia

14 Mill Market

Grab three friends and head to 14 Mill Market for a trivia night focused on the TV series Friends. While you’re there, order some eats from one of 14 Mill Market’s 10 on-site restaurants, or drinks from Wisner Bar.

November 11: Veterans Day Parade

Downtown Branson

Honor past and current veterans at the 93rd annual Veterans Day Parade. This event is part of Branson’s weeklong Veterans Homecoming Week celebration, which features numerous reunions, events, services and special shows honoring veterans.

November 11: The Wood Brothers: Puff of Smoke Tour

Gillioz Theatre

Paste called Chris and Oliver Wood the “masters of soulful punk,” and they are joined on stage at Gillioz Theatre by drummer Jano Rix. Bonus: One dollar of every ticket sold benefits The Nature Trust of British Columbia, a nonprofit chosen by the band.

November 12–December 31: J.Ho.Ho.B

J.O.B. Public House

J.O.B. Public House is bringing back its J.Ho.Ho.B. holiday pop-up bar, which was wildly popular last year. They deck the bar’s adjoining space out with loads of festive decor and offer a special menu of holiday-themed cocktails.
