By mid-June, you can expect to see a brand new bar concept called Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar at 310 South Avenue in downtown Springfield.

Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar comes from the creative foodie minds of Rogan Howitt and Joshua Widner of Good Spirits Company (you know them from Golden Girl Rum Club, Cherry Picker Package x Fare and Best of Luck Beer Hall) and creative branding expert Josh Sullivan (of Fried Design Co. and Supper Co.). The new concept is taking over the space formerly occupied by Scotch & Soda, the first of Good Spirits Company’s bars.

Widner said in a press release: “We had 2020 marked with hope for great things for Scotch & Soda, including a re-brand, relocation and new exciting partnerships. The past few months have made us reprioritize our company values and goals. We’re more than excited to revamp the space we’ve called home for the past eight years. Our team is pumped already.”

In the same release, Howitt points out that the Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar aims to be a comfortable hangout with an approachable cocktail program and nothing pretentious.

Sullivan described Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar as “a reflection of us. No gimmicks, no frills. Just a great bar.” That means there will be a simple menu of 10 draft beers, two draft punches, a rotating cocktail menu and frozen Irish coffee.

Starting mid-month, the bar will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays. Eventually, as the post-COVID world begins returning to normal, it will be open daily.
