Resolve to: Eat Better This Year

With the New Year come plenty of promises to better ourselves—hit the gym more, quit smoking, avoid the drive-thru line, spend a little less when eating out and so on. Just in time for all of our promises to ourselves, we’re rolling out a cover story all about the healthiest dishes in Springfield. And no, this isn’t some diet-culture calorie-counting don’t-eat-a-carb-or-you’ll-die sort of thing. Our Guilt-Free Gourmet feature focuses on restaurants that highlight locally sourced fresh ingredients with loads of vibrant, healthful vegetables to help counteract all the Christmas cookies we’re still munching on.

Resolve to: Spin Your Wheels a Little

It’s getting even easier to eat local (and to eat mobile). Earlier this year, we shared news of a food truck park coming to Springfield, bringing with it an eat-in dining space, restrooms, dedicated food trucks and more. Progress is picking up on the development, which is now projected to open at the beginning of February. Latest plans for the Route 66 Food Truck Park also include an indoor bar, souvenir shop and plenty of parking

Resolve to: Be in the Know

It’s looking like 2020 is already going to be a big year for restaurants. Taco Habitat, the shipping container restaurant going in the parking lot of Lucky’s Market, is breaking ground on its Branson location. And, as we saw, the building pops up fast once the groundwork is done.

In November we reported that The Big Slice is opening a south side location. The sign is up on the building, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re slingin’ ‘zas right into our hungry mouths.

Everyday Thai, which is moving locations in a few days, is also now offering delivery. Orders can be placed over the phone and brought right to you.

Resolve to: Get Out More

Springfield is a hustlin’, bustlin’ little town, so get out there and enjoy it! There are plenty of events happening this week (and even today) to help get you off the couch.
