Cooking for a Cause with Kari Manzardo

About six years ago, Springfieldian Kari Manzardo made a promise to her children, Andrew and August, and to her daughter-in-law, Katie, that she would create a cookbook. “They knew how often I cook,” she says. “And I wanted to give them something of mine that I created that I could share with them for years to come.” 

The cookbook, All in a Day: Recipes Inspired by Family, Friends, and the Great Outdoors is representative of everything Manzardo loves. Manzardo spends most of her time with her children and grandchildren, hunting, cooking and spending time in the great outdoors. 

Manzardo decided she wanted 100% of the book’s proceeds to go to charities. “It made it more rewarding for me in the end,” she says. “I feel so lucky because I never meant to bring any attention to the book. It was just meant for my children, but I found great groups of people that wanted to help.”  

Local restaurants Char Steakhouse & Oyster Bar, Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes, and Flame Steakhouse and Wine Bar have teamed up with 4 the Love of K9s, a foster-based animal shelter in Springfield, to raise money for our local pups. If you purchase All in a Day at any location, all proceeds for the cookbook full of delicious goodies will be donated to 4 the Love of K9s.
