When it comes to choosing local beers, 417-land fans flock to Mother’s Brewing Co. (215 S. Grant Ave., Springfield; 417-862-0423) for its shifting cadre of innovative flavors, family-friendly backyard and savvy marketing. Mother’s recently leaned on that trifecta to launch its newest brew, Doin’ Good, which benefits local nonprofit Care to Learn.
To announce the launch of the new orange wheat ale, Mother’s took to its backyard with Care to Learn founder Doug Pitt to film a shot-for-shot remake of the iconic unboxing scene from Se7en, the film starring Pitt’s famous-but-not-“founded a charity”-famous brother. Although the video has generated plenty of buzz, the beer itself is worth a taste. Crisp and lightly citrusy, it appeals to lager lovers and loathers alike. Grab a six pack in stores or sip a pint in the tasting room before it disappears this August.
