Springfield Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant does everything well from chutneys to tikkas, which is why we love it oh so very much.

If the food is good enough to rave about even after a 15-minute car ride home, you know it is delicious. That’s why Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant (1250 E. Republic Rd., Springfield, 417-719-4573) is so near and dear to my heart. Taj Mahal’s tikka masala (basic, I know) was my lifeline during the early days of quarantine, but as I began to re-explore the world last summer, I decided it was time to change up my weekly take-out order. Enter: aloo gobi. I’ve been an aloo gobi fan for quite some time now but, wow, Taj Mahal just does it best. Spicy, punchy, soft but not soggy vegetables: It’s everything you want in an aloo gobi. And then there’s the naan. And the papadum. And the lusciously thick tamarind chutney. Here’s the point: It doesn’t matter what you order, Taj Mahal consistently delivers.
