Upside-Down Puff Pastry Apple Treats

This baking project is exceptionally easy (let the kids help!) and can be customized any way you like by just swapping out ingredients.

Ingredients

• 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
• ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
• 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, minced
• 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, minced
• Pinch of salt
• 1–2 tart apples, sliced thin
• 4 tablespoons honey
• 8 ounces triple-cream brie, sliced into thin strips
• 1 beaten egg + 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 400°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Roll the creases out of the thawed puff pastry, then slice each sheet into 6 even rectangles. Set aside.
3. Mix together crushed red pepper flakes, thyme, rosemary and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
4. Drizzle honey onto a spot on the parchment that’s a bit smaller than your puff pastry pieces. Arrange a few slices of apples over the honey. Sprinkle seasoning mixture over apples. Add a couple slices of brie. Place a piece of puff pastry directly over the layered ingredients, and gently pinch the edges down onto the pan with a fork.
5. Continue until all 12 pastries are arranged on the two baking sheets.
6. Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg wash.
7. Bake for 10 minutes or until pastry is puffed up and golden.
8. Gently remove each pastry from the pan and flip over onto a baking rack. Let cool for 10 minutes (or completely) before serving.
