For diners feeling a little tired of the same old eats, there’s a new spot in Nixa serving comfort food and a bit of entertainment, too. At The Collective Eclectic Eatery (1528 N. Main St., Nixa, 417-494-4078), the menu features home cooking options including grilled salmon, burnt ends, fried chicken, blackberry cobbler and even shrimp and crab boil events on Saturdays. We’ve been eyeing The Hot Mess on the appetizer menu, which starts with a baked potato and is topped with pulled pork, cheese and tons of indulgent toppings. And while opening during a pandemic might seem like risky business, diners interested in social distancing have room to spread out in the large outdoor dining area that overlooks a terraced space the restaurant is using as a concert venue. Also outside are quirky features like a wrecked ship next the terrace and a giant checkers board on the ground. And back inside, the steampunk-themed Boiler Room features pinball and vintage-inspired cocktails—the perfect night cap after a hearty meal.
