Chicken Salad Restaurant

Are y’all big fans of southern-style chicken salad? I guess so because an Atlanta-based restaurant chain saw opportunity in the market, and they have franchised into the southwest Missouri area. Chicken Salad Chick has more than 200 locations, two of them in St. Louis and now opening two more in Springfield. The restaurant serves 12 types of southern-style chicken salad within four categories: traditional, savory, fruity and nutty, and spicy. They have signature sandwiches such as turkey pesto or a pimento cheese BLT, and they carry sides, soups and salads and of course pimento cheese plus. The exact locations have not yet been announced but we will keep an eye out and let you know as soon as we know.

Last-Minute Foodie Gifts

If you have a foodie in your life, someone who loves to eat at the best restaurants in town, enjoys delicious wine and just can’t get enough of a good charcuterie board, then this post is exactly the inspiration you were looking for to go find the right gift. These are just some of my favorites and I know that any of these would be a big win for me and anyone in my friend group. Let’s start with an awesome charcuterie board from 417 Charcuterie who can provide you with a jaw dropping delicious charcuterie to either bring to a party of just enjoy at home. Next we have one of my favorites, a box of wine from Cherry Picker Package x Fare, where they sell 12-bottle cases with eight reds, three whites and one sparkling for a great price. Last but not least, a fantastic dinner at Progress with a holiday gift card to one of the best restaurants in town.

Korean-Style Corn Dogs

Have you ever heard of Korean-style corn dogs? Well, they are one of those food items that belong in the fair foods or street foods category. They are stuffed with a large hot dog and mozzarella cheese, then battered and rolled in an assortment of crunchy items such as Japanese panko breadcrumbs, chili-lime tortilla chip crumbles, diced potatoes and so much more. A new concept called Wookie Dogs has been doing pop-ups around town, and I can only see exciting times ahead for these creative and enthusiastic guys. The idea for now is to start a booth that can hit music festivals all over the country and eventually open either a food truck or small brick and mortar location somewhere in Springfield. We will keep you posted! P.S. I tried them, and they’re as fun and delicious as they sound!

Fun Christmas Flavors

There are a lot of local businesses making fun and delicious food items during this week that are totally worth the try. Let’s start with this small but impressive food truck making mini donuts, SnoNut Mini donuts will be positioned at the Gardens Aglow lights festival at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Gardens both Wednesday and Thursday so go give them a try and enjoy a box of loaded mini donuts with the whole family! Oh and don’t forget some hot cocoa. Now, if there are any eggnog fans in here, let me point you in the right direction: Both Kingdom Coffee and Golden Girl Rum Club are selling their delicious eggnog. The one from Kingdom Coffee is made with cold brew and the one from Golden Girl is made with rum, so choose your favorite and go get a bottle of this delicious beverage just in time for Christmas.
