Margaritas aren’t necessarily my go-to cocktail, but margaritas with some sort of funky twist always grab my attention. Give me a spicy jalapeno margarita any day. Prickly pear is a day-brightener. Smoky mezcal instead of tequila feels delightfully mysterious—but just a bit. So of course I had to try the Cuban Margarita from Cafe Cusco (234 E. Commercial St., Springfield, 417-351-3029). It has a cinnamon rim and a little cinnamon sprinkled on top. That’s it. Nothing super-fancy or super-shocking, yet that little touch of warm spice over the typical citrusy tequila concoction changed every sweet sip into something a little bit fresh and new.
