New Mexican Eats

A beloved La Paloma waiter has branched out on his own and opened a new Mexican restaurant in Springfield. Sergio Ruiz’s new Casa Bella Mexican Cuisine has opened at 4610 S. Campbell Ave. and is serving up stellar tacos in a space filled with beautiful, colorful artwork and even a gorgeous floral mural on the outside wall. (Selfie opportunity, anyone?) The space was actually formerly occupied by a Maria’s Mexican Restaurant location and has now been converted to Ruiz’s eatery, meaning southwest Springfield residents who might have been bummed to lose one great taco spot can rest easy now that a new one has opened up shop in their neighborhood. We can’t wait to try it!

A Pizza + Pie Collab

Prairie Pie opened the year with some big news! In addition to announcing that they’ll be releasing new sweet pie and pot pie flavors this year and adding cheesecake and ice cream to the menu, they also announced a pretty perfect collaboration. Therefore, Pizza (a mobile wood-fired pizza spot that has been rapidly gaining popularity) will soon be offering their beautiful pizzas through a pick-up window in the alleyway beside Prairie Pie. Their pizza flavors range from classic (like a lovely margherita) to super-creative (like one with Calabrian chili, ricotta cheese and smoked rabbit). How perfect is it that a pizza pie purveyor is going to be sharing space with one of our favorite sweet pie and pot pie bakers? It’s kismet.

MudHouse Expands

Springfield’s coffee scene has been blowing up in recent years, and even our favorite classics are coming out with some brand new news. MudHouse Coffee is the true OG, and we love them for their great brews, wide selection of tea, crazy-good smoothies and homemade eats. And their store is the definition of coffee shop cozy. Soon, Ozark residents will be able to share the MudHouse love. The coffee shop is set to open an Ozark location soon, and we’ll keep you posted when we have more tasty details.

Six date night themes include Scandinavian (yum!), Italian, New Mexican, Parisian, Polish and British Isles. Baking classes include whole grain breads, pie making, croissants and puff pastry, and a Valentine’s Day cookie decorating class.
