Stay or get away? With help from an expert at Adelman Travel, we’ve chosen three custom-fit honeymoon retreats that include wining, dining and even zip lining—in 417-land and beyond.

1. Trip: Outdoor Retreat

Local: Big Cedar Lodge (612 Devil’s Pool Rd., Ridgedale, 417-335-2777,
Big Cedar Lodge is where opulence meets the outdoors, and your honeymoon is a prime time to snuggle up in one the property’s extra-cozy log cabins. Days can be spent on Table Rock Lake in a canoe or skimming the pristine waters on a pair of skis. For landlubbers, scenic hiking trails dot the property, and the staff will happily pack a romantic picnic for two.

Destination: The Springs Resort & Spa (Arenal Volcano Park, Costa Rica, 954-727-8333,
Costa Rica rules for all things outdoor, and The Springs Resort & Spa combines romance and adventure in one trip. According to Deana Crouch, director of leisure sales at Adelman Travel, this unique property features bungalow-style rooms that make it extra-secluded. In fact, The Bachelor filmed there for a steamy hot springs episode. “This resort is great for the outdoor-lover,” Crouch says. “It’s in the middle of the jungle, so guests can go to the cloud forest, go biking, go zip lining or try out the swinging bridges in the rainforest.”

2. Trip: Wine Getaway

Local: Hermann Hill Bed & Breakfast Vineyard Inn & Spa (711 Wein St., Hermann, 573-486-4455,
No need to leave the state of Missouri for an ultra-romantic wine vacation. Hermann boasts seven award-winning wineries, and Hermann Hill Vineyard & Inn is so plush that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a reason to leave the room. Between vino tours, you can take breakfast (and dessert!) in the privacy of your Vineyard Spa Suite, which is outfitted with a fireplace and a hot tub.

Destination: The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa (100 Boyes Blvd., Sonoma, California, 707-938-9000,
Crouch agrees that the Sonoma Valley is a stunning location for a honeymoon. “The Fairmont's service is incredible,” she says. Crouch points out that this particular hotel has won loads of awards, both for romance and for its soothing mineral springs.

3. Trip: Rest & Relaxation

Local: Chateau on the Lake (415 N. State Highway 265, Branson, 417-334-1161,
If your idea of a honeymoon is to completely decompress, Chateau on the Lake fits the bill nicely. Snag a room with a balcony for lounging with a view, or de-stress in the 14,000-square-foot spa that uses elements from the Ozarks in their Dogwood Signature Facial and the Table Rock Hot Stone Massage.

Destination: The Round Hill Hotel & Villas (John Pringle Drive, Montego Bay, Jamaica, 1-800-972-2159,
Round Hill Hotel & Villas affords total relaxation with rooms designed by Ralph Lauren and splurge-worthy villas with private pools. Don’t skip the signature massage: hot stones bathed in warm Jamaican aromatherapy oils that melt away any leftover wedding stress. Crouch says that the resort is perfect for rest because “there’s no better place to relax than on a beautiful beach, and Jamaica most definitely has those.”
