Brrr Mix-a-Lot

Saturday is a big day for ice cream fans in 417-land. Swirly’s Ice Cream & Waffles is having their grand opening August 13, so now you can get your favorite ice cream base (are you a chocolate lover or a vanilla fan?) blended with tasty toppings like cereals, nuts, baked goods and candy. Then, you can gobble it up with a fresh, fluffy bubble waffle. The mix-ins feature some unusual items that we haven’t seen at other ice cream joints around town, like lemon Oreos, ginger snaps, kettle potato chips and Nerds candy. You can find the Swirly’s truck at 3867 S. Campbell Ave. And don't forget to read our blog about this super-cool dessert concept.

Boatable Burgers

If you’re still soaking up the last couple weeks of summer before sending the kids back to school, there’s a new boat-in restaurant at Table Rock Lake that you might want to try out. Goofy Goose Lakeside Bar & Grill recently opened at Kimberling Cove Resort (27 Schooner Creek, Kimberling City), and they offer a courtesy dock on Point 7 if you want to arrive by boat. The spot offers eats like po’ boy sandwiches, burgers, wings, pulled pork and salads (plus a kids menu for the little ones), and there’s a full-service bar too. Grab a seat indoors when it’s too dang hot, or outside when you want to dine right beside the lake.

Soul on the Go

Last week we told you about the big anniversary celebration Big Momma’s Coffee & Espresso had planned. Well, at that event, owner Lyle Foster announced that Big Momma's Coffee will be opening a second location—and this one is drive-thru. But it gets even better. The spot will also serve as a pick-up location for the seriously delicious homemade fair from Queen City Soul Kitchen. Being able to get Commercial Street’s beloved coffee and belly-pleasing Queen City Soul Kitchen goodness like their crispy fried catfish or comforting meatloaf. The new spot will be located near Boonville and Division and is set to open this fall. We can’t wait to swing through for the good stuff!

ICYMI: Itty Bitty News Bites

• If you already like sipping your morning cup of Joe at The Workshop at Finley Farms, your coffee fandom is about to pay off. The Workshop has launched a loyalty program promotion that runs through September 30 and allows customers to get double loyalty card punches from 7–8 a.m. every weekday. After 8 punches, you get a free drink!

• The Golden Girl Rum Club has an updated menu—perfect for soaking up what's left of the summer vibes by sipping something tropical.

• The Dog Days of Summer pet parade is this coming Saturday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon at Farmers Market of the Ozarks. Market shoppers with their pups in tow can walk those cute little critters through the area to show off their strut. Honestly, this has nothing to do with food, but it takes place at the farmers market, and we love dogs. That tenuous connection is enough for us!

• Gotta love a restaurant who hears their customers and gives them what they love. Piccolo Contemporary Italian has just added their customers' very favorite special—the seafood cannelloni—to the menu as a permanent option. This tasty pasta dish is stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallops and tarragon white wine cream sauce and buried in lucious lobster bisque before it's baked with mozzarella cheese. Oh. My. God. That sounds incredible, right?
